As the situation with the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) has evolved and due to guidance from Federal, State, Local, and University Officials, the Islanders Race to Zero has been rescheduled for Friday, October 16, 2020. The Race will occur in October to coincide with Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Thank you for your continued support! More details about the Race will be released soon!
Student Conduct & Advocacy will be hosting its 2nd Annual Islanders Race to Zero 5k walk/run! Islanders Race to Zero will take place on Friday, October 16, 2020 beginning at 6:00pm. The Islanders Race to Zero aims to raise awareness concerning issues of sexual violence. In addition to the walk/run, the event will feature a resource fair with campus/community resource tables and a candlelight vigil to honor survivors of sexual violence. Our goal is that through education and advocacy, that the number of incidents of sexual violence will one day reach zero in our community. Proceeds from Islanders Race to Zero will benefit sexual violence prevention and awareness initiatives.
EARLY REGISTRATION PARTICIPANTS WILL BE GUARANTEED A T-SHIRT. REGULAR REGISTRATION PARTICIPANTS MAY RECEIVE A T-SHIRT WHILE SUPPLIES LAST.
Medals will be awarded at the finish the run/walk, while supplies last.
Islanders Race to Zero: Participants will park in the Turtle Cove, Curlew, and Jellyfish Lots on TAMUCC's Campus and meet at the Dugan Wellness Center/Island Hall.
Kickoff for the race begins at 6:00pm at Dugan Wellness Center/Island Hall. Runners/Walkers will be able to start at approximately 6:15pm. The Resource Fair will be open beginning at 7:00pm and the Candlelight Vigil and Closing Remarks will take place after the race, in front of Island Hall.
The run/walk will take place entirely on the TAMUCC Hike & Bike Trail.
